The Kansas State Board of Rules and Regulations will meet at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 in room 281-N, Kansas Statehouse.

SCHWAB ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF JOHNSON COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSIONER

Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab today announced the appointment of Connie Schmidt as Johnson County Election Commissioner to oversee the 2020 elections. Fred Sherman has been appointed Deputy Election Security Commissioner for 2020 and will assume the position of Johnson County Election Commissioner by January 4, 2021.

APPLICATION PERIOD EXTENDED FOR JOHNSON COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSIONER

The Office of Secretary of State today announced the application period for the vacant Johnson County Election Commissioner has been extended to Friday, January 31 to account for the holiday season and ensure those interested have the opportunity to apply.

The Kansas State Board of Rules and Regulations will meet immediately following the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules and Regulations meeting on Friday, January 10, 2020 in room 582-N, Kansas Statehouse.

APPLICATION PERIOD OPENS FOR JOHNSON COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSIONER

Secretary of State Scott Schwab announced an open application period for the vacant Johnson County Election Commissioner position. Interested parties have until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020, to apply.

STATE BOARD OF CANVASSERS TO MEET

The Kansas State Board of Canvassers will meet on Monday, November 25, 2019, to certify the 2019 General Election results. Pursuant to K.S.A. 25-3206, the Board will certify the constitutional amendment that appeared on the ballot, not municipal election results.

STATE LAUNCHES NEW BUSINESS ONE STOP

The State of Kansas today announced the launch of the Kansas Business One Stop – ksbiz.kansas.gov. The new site is a joint effort by the Secretary of State’s office and several state agencies to simplify the process of starting, operating and growing a business in Kansas. Participating agencies include the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Kansas Department of Commerce, Kansas Department of Labor and Kansas Department of Revenue.

SCHWAB ANNOUNCES VOTE CENTER WORKING GROUP

Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab announced the formation of a working group to draft rules and regulations for vote center provisions contained in Substitute for SB130. The working group will be chaired by Secretary Schwab and consist of Kansas election officers, county clerks, election experts and security specialists.
